Astra 2D Footprint

This map is from What Satellite and Digital Television magazine.

It shows approximate dish size required to receive programmes from Astra 2D satellite (eg. BBC). You will also need a suitable LNB and receiver. According to Satcure, for dishes larger than 1.5m diameter, you will need an Invacom 0.3dB LNB (but not the single-output version which performed poorly in tests). Obviously I can't confirm this because I'm in the UK. Suitable Sky Digiboxes include the obsolete Pace BSKYB2600 and Pace "Javelin" minibox (12 volt model - also obsolete).

Some other obsolete Sky Digiboxes are equally as good but with some concerns regarding software and reliability:

Panasonic TU-DSB30 - reception good but software problems.

Panasonic TU-DSB31 - poor reception.

Later Panasonic - TU-DSB40 and 50 (believed to be OK but unconfirmed).

Grundig GDS models - not quite as good and PSU reliability problems (easy to fix).

Amstrad - very few reports so far but some models may be OK.

Thomson models - similar to Grundig.
