What's the warranty on a Sky Digibox?

This is my understanding:

The warranty is 12 months. If the Digibox fails within 30 days, it will be replaced with a new one. If it fails after that, it will be sent for repair* or replaced with a "refurbished"** one.

*Repair can take up to 28 days. You can claim compensation off Sky for the loss of viewing.

**Judging by reported failures, "refurbished" seems to mean rejected by another customer and given a quick test to see if there's any obvious fault. It comes with a 90 day warranty if you are within 90 days of the end of your 12 month contract or already past it.

All such warranties are in addition to your consumer rights and do not detract from them. Electronic equipment is normally expected to last 6 years so if it lasts, say, 2 years, you'd be expected to pay 2/3 for a replacement since you've used up one third of its life expectancy. (This would be a typical court judgement. Each case is judged on an individual basis.)
